Leslie
Fleming-Mitchell
bio
Leslie Fleming-Mitchell has good reason to choose acting
and the
creation of believable soulful stories as her passion and work. Raised
in the U.S., Europe and Africa, she brings a wealth of experience to
the many different experiences of life. She has lived in a small hamlet
amongst the remote Hamar tribe of southern Ethiopia and modeled for
Betsey Johnson in New York. She has spent summers on a tiny island off
the west coast of Sweden and many seasons in Paris’ 7th arrondissement.
She has worked extensively both in front of and behind the camera and
has many film and television credits, including a lead role in Kihachi
Okamoto’s award-winning film, East Meets West. She worked as assistant
director and casting director on independent features, including The
Mad Songs Of Fernanda Hussein, recipient of the Rosa Luxembourg award,
as well as film coach for actors preparing for film and television
roles. She is on the faculty of the International Film and Television
Workshops in Rockport, Maine.
She co-founded the summer film festival
Shakespeare In Santa Fe, Frogs On The Water Theatre Company, Something
In The Air Dance Theatre and Nausikaa Productions in Paris. At the
suggestion of Julia Cameron and Mark Bryan, creators of the Artist's
Way workshops for accessing creativity, she brought the Artist's Way to
France and Italy to the delight of many artists and writers.
Leslie
holds a bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts from the University of
Massachusetts, Amherst and a graduate degree in film from the
British-American Theatre Institute.
In New York she modeled for
designer Betsey Johnson and studied at the Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre.
She holds Truth and Love to be the most important ingredients in both
